Stock vs ebay metal
I am looking to put a fat boy fender on my street glide. I have never purchased any aftermarket body parts for my bike. Should I buy a used oem front fender or cheaper ebay fender? Both have to be painted anyway. Some of the after market fenders look like they need a fair amount of filler/sealer and prep work. Might be easier to just scuff and repaint oem. Any advice? Thanks

The question you need to ask how much of your time preparing the EBAY part is worth . My time is worth more then the cost of OEM vrs EBAY. Also the OEM part will have the correct hole and mounting alignment and can be purchased from Harley already painted. To give you idea of cost, I purchased a 2006 Road King painted rear fender from Harley for $900.00 (insurance claim) Your choice for me OEM

I had to replace the front fender on my 07 ultra classic. I did some research on what fit then started looking on ebay. Ended up finding a replacement that not only had the correct holes but had all the chrome trim, badges and fender tip light for $100. Took it to a painter reccomended by a friend. He stripped it to bare metal, primed and painted it to match (two tone paint with painted pin stripes) for $300.
So, for me, getting HD steel from ebay was the way to go.
