Default New Evo owner, first time poster

Hi all , I just picked up a 92 Fxr all stock , it has a manufacture date of 7 91, I am wondering about cam bearins,it does have some engine whine , but I am used to my 2012 wide glide tc ,is some whine normal for a Evo motor with 28 k, also when did hd go to Ina cam bearin I thought it was late 92

Does it still have the original riveted on timing cover?

Yes it has the rivits on cam cone, the bike sat a lot runs good does have a carb hick up, only thing not stock is slip ons

I am going to have it checked out , do lifters but I would like to keep cam stock, can bearin be identified with just taken of cam cone and not removing cam ,

No, but if you are doing the lifters anyway and you have the cone off, at that point you're just talking about pulling the cam straight out. Nothing to it.

Without hearing it, no way to say if what you're describing is a problem.

Here's a vid of my 1990 for comparison.


At only 28k, unless yours has been butchered, odds are its fine.

Sorry for posting twice, when I do lifters I will have it checked out , it really did not sound that bad unti I started reading the horror stories about inner cam bearins, thanks
