Default engine guard - conventinal or mustache

Hi, guys! I'm looking for an engine guard for my 2014 Fatboy. HD catalog shows a conventional square type and a mustache type, and I'm wondering which I should get. The mustache type has a sort of cool design, but, the square type may have a better protection in case of a drop. Any input from you appreciated.

I'm partial to the mustache bar. Have a look at the pic of my bike below..

I like the conventional one. More of a classic look.

On a Heritage or RK Classic I prefer the square design, traditional. The mustache bar has built in foot rest's. Both will protect in a tip over, neither design is better then the other in a crash.

Think of where you are taking your bike with new mods. More than likely you will buy something else after the engine guard. Where are you taking your bike? Old school style, blacked out, or more modern styling. I have a Deluxe and I wanted all nostalgic. Don't impulse purchase and you will save money in the end.

A softail bike is designed to be old school, hence the softail look. Go with a conventional bar, the mustache bar is way too modern lookin IMHO. Never saw an old Pan with a mustache bar ever.
