Default Fitment: ~2008 softail fender fit a 2002 softail

Hello all; I'm looking to upgrade the wheel/fender look on my 2002 softail standard.. From browsing the swap meets and online, it seems that I can score a good deal on some late model softail fender and wheel combos.. Question is; can a 2008 gen fender wheel combo (180-200mm width?) Fit a stock swingarm with mild modifications on a 2002 setup? Thanks!

No way that'll fit without some serious modification. 2007 and later houses the 200mm rear tire. 2002 I think has a 160mm tire. There's mod kits out there to go to a 200mm, and they usually come with a custom fender.

Addition to what has already been stated concerning fender fitment, later model bikes have different axle sizes than your 02. You need to source wheels with a 3/4 inch diameter axle.

Change the frame horns that come with the late model fender and it will bolt up. If you stick with a 180 tire on a 4.75 wheel in 18" you can get by with out changing the wide drive belt. If you find a wheel with the later model axle go to NAPA and get a bearing matched up to the 3/4 axle. Using a smaller 16"-17" wheel you will have to have the late model caliper with slight machine work. I don't call any of this serious modification as it is mostly a bolt up. there's a couple guys on here that have squeezed a 200 tire under there with a fender that has struts built in.
I wish you guys would stop giving info out that you know nothing about. It discourages some from even trying anything and some to spend needless money on **** that won't work. Most early Twin Came came with rear tires in sizes 130 to 150.
You can bolt on a 160-16 tire on the stock rim under a stock fender if you change the nuts under the fender by drilling out the bolt holes and using a blind nut.My sig pic has a 160 under an early FatBoy fender. PM me if you want more detail BrianHD.
