I understand what you are doing here. But I almost think you could sell something that nice for a pretty penny to buy everything you need to go from scratch.
Do what you want with the bike. It is yours. Still, I would sell all the tins. That is some great paint. Let someone else pay you and let them enjoy the look. Take the cash and go crazy on your bike.
I think it's way easier to take a pile of ****, or a plain stock bike, and turn it into something nice - not so easy taking something already nice - and making it into another type of nice. definitely subscribed- go for it brother!

Really? Selling this old '96 bike would sell for that much it'd be enough to buy everything I need from scratch?? Haha I wish that's how it worked, unfortunately, you can not sell a bike for the cost of every part on the bike in total. I could not even comes close to replacing everything for what this bike would sell for.
Secondly, not only the larger cost in building from scratch, the laws here make it very hard to compliance a custom bike. So suggesting to me to sell this bike, then spend what this bike cost plus half that again more in building one from scratch that our laws will virtually dictate me into building something I don't like just to get it compliance and register it...why would I do that?
You had me as soon as I saw the Springer.
I'm truly baffled I don't see more Springer builds. I mean this forum was littered with discontent when the Moco discontinued the Springer, yet you can put a Springer on any Softail and create true beauty. Glad to see that's your route.
We await progress updates!
