Default need to get a motorcycle Jack

Saw the pitbull lift demo last year at Sturgis and I know a lot of people swear by them. But the cost is a bit out of reach. Is there any downside to big box brands like craftsman or others? Suggestions on specific brands?

Here is one to get you started

Personally, I'm not buying a lift until I can afford a J&S.

You get what you pay for in this case..... I keep my bike on a lift all winter with no straps holding it on the lift... So my lift is a J&S....
Its your money and its your bike!!
When I first bought my lift 7 years ago. I thought it was a lot of money... Now I see it as money well spent! swifty..

Thanks for the link (motorcycle lift was too genetic of a search) and thanks for the brand suggestion. That price isn't completely out. Extra encouragement goes a long way

Had a Sears Yellow jack. It broke with my bike up in the air. Took 4 guys to get it down. Rolled it to the curb for the garbage man to pick up.

Then I bought a J&S Jack. Best accessory I ever bought for the bike.

Hello matte..:icon_toast: This is what I use, i have two. They work great when table lift is already in use. Company claims that straps are not required when lifting bike. The actually sit on bike while lifted without any straps. It's a Dunwel Brand motorcycle lift.

I had a sears jack for about 9 years and it performed well. I used it to clean & do maintenance on my softail.

When I bought my Ultra, I noticed that the added weight of the Ultra made the sears jack seem unstable. I just didn't feel confident with my Ultra on it...

I bought a J&S jack and it is night & day different from the sears jack. Although they look similar, work similar, and are by all rights similar...... the J&S is a much better jack.

Now I can lift both bikes and have extreme confidence (I still strap them, just common sense) working/polishing them in the air....

Even the softail feels much more secure, to the point where I'm not sure how/why I felt so confident w/ the softail on the sears jack....

I now have a K&L table lift. Yet, I still use the J&S jack for many things....
