Default Vance & Hines exhaust question...

Guys,

I have a 07 Heritage, i'm thinking of putting on V & H big long shot pipes. Reading prior threads, can i get away with pipes, stage1 and Fuelpak download. Or do i have to pay the big bucks and add race turner and dyno.....

Thanks Manny

You definitely don't need a race tuner if you plan to leave the engine stock. As to the dyno, having it done might give you slightly better performance (and a lot more knowledge regarding your engine), but it certainly isn't necessary. It's the Law of Diminishing Returns: at some point the potential gain ceases to be worth the additional cost. (Of course, it's up to you to decide what that point is!)

I would suggest if you're planning to add the FuelPak that you consider a Power Commander 3 instead. The PCIII is only a few dollars more, and in my opinion can do more if you start switching pipes, etc. Just a thought.

I'm running Big Shot Longs on my '06 Heritage, with the quiet baffles, and I'm very happy with them.

I have 06 scremin eagle Fat Boy 103 C.I.and at 1000 mile service put D&D 2 in 1 header, SERT, K&N, Trip.Plat. plugs, 8MM plug wires, run only Synthtic Fluids, had it Dyno-Tuned, and boy did it ever make a difference!! Right at 100 H.P. & 100 FT. LBS. Tourqe, and no engine mods., but what I did was not cheap, but I have a whole different bike, and whats good with SERT, if you do any mods. it can be adjusted at HARLEY DEALER because its a HARLEY part, and I was told they would stand behind all warrenty work if used HARLEY parts, but it is different strokes for different folks so I can not tell you about other tuners because I have allways used a SERT. GOOD LUCK. PURPLE HAZE.

Hey Motor Unit:, I have a 06 Heritage Classic with Big Shot Longs, the only mods. are a Screamin Eagle Filter, Stage 1 download. This summer I added a Power Commander. The P.C. made a big difference. Check Fuel Moto for their price on the P.C., I found them to be the best.........

Thanks for the input , so for now i can get away with the pipes, stage1 and fuelpak. i was considering the PCIII, but was told that if i wasn't going to chance the pipes or mod the engine, i could get away with the fuelpak, i'll have it dyno in the near future. How much is the fuelpak and does it come mapped for my V&H pipes ?

since fuelpak is a VH product, it is supposedly very easy to calibrate based on the pipes you are installing.
