If you've got an 07 Custom and thinking about these Harley chrome covers, they dont fit, at least not my bike...

Fits '87-later Softail® models (except FLSTF, FLSTN and FXSTD models with stock shotgun exhaust). (Will not work fit Saddlebags.)

They fit the left side just fine, but on the right side, they are not made to fit between the 07's brake caliper mount and the adjustment bolt once you tension the belt.

The kit comes with a shorter tension bolt which would help, but it's not long enough to tension the belt to the right lengh. I've tried several tricks, even had the real axle out playing with different things.. . Short of grinding on them, I don't see how they'll fit on this setup.

If I am just stupid and overlooking something, please tell me before I ship em back

anybody know of any aftermarket ones that look similar that will fit? I like the Kuryakyn Phatom covers, but they dont make them to fit the FXXTC.

Looks like clearence issue.

This isnt the answer you're looking for but...Iusea different kit, checkout my photos, gives the ST an old school look, and WILL fit.

If you like it, I can look-up the kit #

 

Seems like this would have been discovered by Harley before now. There has to be more to this.....not sure what it is, but it doesnt seem right.

 

there is a problem.i had stage one and the chrome axle covers put on before i picked up my bike.when i went to get it they told me they didnt have any covers to fit it even though on paper it said it would.

 

they worked on my 07 softail standard. I put them on awhile ago and I dont remember having any problems. I dont think the standards and customs are different back there either.?

 

99, they will not fit on mine, and I agree, if they fit your 07 standard, you would think they would fit my custom. I wonder what brake caliper you have. I know the 08's have a totally different one than the 07's, so maybe yours has the new caliper setup. Do you have a close up pic of the right cover you could post, I'd love to see how it fit on there...

DG7080 looks like 99embrey rear covers are different?

I bought the same covers for my 07fxstc and I could not get them to fit on the left side let alone try the right.
Where the openings go over the swingarm they don't fit when you need to get them in the right place. Seems like the weld where the axle adjuster area is welded to swingarm frame is the same place that the covers should be but the opening won't go over the weld area? move the cover down abit and they seem ok but then don't line up with the bracket it mounts to.
The sales man at the dealer siad bring in and give money back but the spares said to see the workshop who said they fit?
The work shop is going to fit them when it goes in for its first service.

My thought is they don't fit on 08 bikes so maybe the swing arm on mine is the same as 08? Spose will find out when they go to install.

 

blackdragon, I think your right. looking at 99's a bit closer, they are not the same. They are the ones mojo has on his fxs and they will fit. they are a bit smaller as well. I will probably be swapping mine out this week for a set of those.
