Default Cross Bones Air Cleaner

I rode over to my local Harley place for lunch today and they had a Cross Bones on the floor. Since this is Tokyo and the X-Bones was just released, I was impressed. First, let me say NICE BIKE. I couldn't take my eyes off it and if I was in the market now I wouldn't consider anything else.

However..The pics I've seen online showed it with a black round AC cover. I was glad Harley had ditched the football to make the stock bike look even better. But, the bike I saw today had a standard football cover painted gloss black. Do stock X-bones have the round cover or did I see pictures of bikes with some sort of SE upgrade? Or, in the rush to produce them, did they run out of new style covers and throw football covers on?

Just curious..

I have seen three of them in different US dealers and all had the round cover. I wonder if its because therewas little notification of the bike's release it may be that the export model you saw has a powdercoated football because they didn't have time to recertify the bike with the whatever agency makes up theexport EPA with the round cover. So they just used the black AC assembly from the already cirtifiedNT.
I would like it if somebody with one could take a couple of pic's of it both with the cover on and off. To see if its just the cover and its matching base platethat's changed or if they changed the filter inside as well.

That makes sense. I'd like to see a pic of the inside of that Bones AC too. I don't think they could squeeze a regular filter into that round cover?

Odds are that its the same filter, the filter cover doesn't appear to be any deeper than the normal football. The football just looks different because of its shape.
Besides if its really different they would have to recalibrate the ECM to match, and that would cost a lot of money. Something any company is reluctant to do as it cuts into the profit margin.

There are two models of the Crossbones.
I think that one doesnt have the spring seat either.
I could be mistaken but it seems to me I have seen two different models of crossbones.

as far as i know your mistaken. there is only one cross bones model. as far as the seat i do believe there are forum memebers who have removed the stock spring seat and put on a solo seat.

I've only heard of one x-bone model (2 rockers though).
Yes spring seat fits look of bike but not function. I'll be changing to standard solo for hard riding.
