I have a 96 FXSTC, I have taken the stock bars and installed 30" drag bars. Of course I wired all internally, and bought all new cables. My problem is this.......................The throttle cables no matter how I install em are to long.There is to much slack either at the carb or at the throttle. I put them up to the old cables and it seems that they are both about 1/2 inch longer than the originals. I am talking about the cable themselves..........not the stainless covering. All this was specs by a local H-D dealer they told be what to use.

I am using a S&S Super E carb, and I dont think I relayed that info to them..................should I have or is there something i'm missing in this install?

 

I don't think ur missing anything, but yeah you gotta tell em what carb you got on there, the ss carbs have different cable lengh. than the cv carbs, shouldn't be a big deal, just take the cable back and get the right size. tell em you need two inches shorter

 

Its funny but the guys at H-D asked me every question except that one. It didnt dawn on me either at the time. I mean the install is super simple...................but I knew something was wrong.

Is there any other things you can think of that I may have missed?
