Default tombstone fell off/ and good stealers?

I am in need of a harley part that holds the tombstone tailight on, went to the local dealer, who went right to the book full of chrome stuff.....not the parts book, errr uhh I will spare ya the rest of the story, I will not deal with the local dealer anymore....that make 2 in a row....

I have e-mailed a few harley dealers looking for this part and have recived no replys.....

anyone know of a dealship has a parts person that could work with me here? I refuse to spend money at a dealer that give poor service.
if I could just find one good one, ahhhh.....please help.

The parts manual doesn't list a part number for the cover part that holds everything on. In my book for 07's it shows almost all the other parts inside. But to get the outer part it looks like you can onlyget the whole assembly PN=68280-05.

Maybe you can call some junk yards around your area. If they have a totalled deluxe with that part you could probably save yourself a lot of money and get it from them.

Or, maybe someone IS stealing your stuff. Have you ever heard the Johnny Cash song Pink Cadillac? Yeah, sort of reminds me of your situation. Hell, when I was 10 or so I would ride my bike around stealing people's "chrome" valve caps (chromies) and would try selling them to my friends. I don't think I made any money, but I probably did confuse some people. As charma would have it I've had mine on my car stolen twice as well. I totally deserve it.

When you put it back on, try putting a little blue Lock-Tite on the threads. That should keep things together a bit longer.
Damn that's an expensive piece, I tried looking that part number up at Zenotti's and even theywant $90.87 for it. Makes me wonder what the local dealer will try charging for it.
Think you better try TAWoody's idea for looking in scrap yards.

your profile doesn't show where you live..... but, if you live in the San Antonio area - check with Hector at Alamo City HD, or John at Gurene HD in New Braunfels....either one of them willdo you right.
