I bought a PARTS manual for my bike. Already had Service manual.
The Harley catalog is for Add-Ons. What happens if you need a standard equipment part? You have to go to your dealer.
My manual cost $48. I have recently purchased two STANDARD parts from Zanottis and Chicago Harley. The 20% savings, on just two parts, paid for the book!!!!!
I am no longer a slave to the local damn dealer.

Reason: stoopid and dum
The parts manual is great, wish I had one. But if I really need a part number I find just searching this forum usually gets good results. If that don't work I just ask here and somebody usually has a number in no time! Or I go into my local dealer get all the numbers I need and then order online.
I have one and use it regularly...mostly to provide guys like the one above numbers...but hey it is useful. I don't like going in to the dealer for numbers unless I am going to buy from them. I think it makes a bad statement when I go in for numbers and then buy somewhere else. Especially when the parts guy comes out to check out my new stuff and notices I got what he looked up from somewhere else. The way I do it now, he gives me 10% off everything because we have a good relationship,,,which is good for the parts I need now. Anything else I research myself and order through Zanotti's or Chicago and the parts guy doesn't get upset about it....JMHO
Wurk truk...Excellent point! Why be a slave to your dealer and their F'd up pricing when you can find the numbers and buy online! I've been advocating this since joining the boards a year ago. Now I've started a whole following on Ft Bragg that does the same since our local dealer (prior military himself) could care less about us!
At least I will say that the local Victory Dealer, prior military himself, will order parts for us Harley Guys and give us 10% off...sad to think that the local non-harley competition takes care of us this way and the regular Harley dealer is so money grubbing that he won't.
Who was the guy who used to scream at everyone about buying a manual?
Yep, I also bought a parts, electrical and maintenance manual. Have em on CD as well.

Yeah I don't use CapeFear if I don't have to. They don't want to discount anything. Just placed an order with Lake Shore HD. Got 20% off and free shipping.
