Default Softail Standard Make over - pls advise

I have a 06 FXSTI and looking forward to get a stretched fuel tank + solo seat + Chopper kit + wide tire kit.
Now, some friends have told me not to go with the wide tire kit as it will change the bike's behaviour and balance. is that true ? & does this also applies on the chopper kit ? i wana know if this will make it better or worse in terms of handling and balance.
Thanks

How much wider do you want to go since you've already got the 200 on your bike? Some companies make bolt on kits (seat/tank/fender/struts/etc) for the 200. Go buy an American Iron Magazine and you'll get tons of ideas. Find some local indy shops near you to get some good ideas as well.

performance dosn't really change until you get to 250 and above. some say more than 180, but I can't tell a **** bit difference until you get above 250. the 300's are just stupid.

I went from a 150 to the 200 when I bought my Custom. I don’t have any problems with it at all.

Easiest way to do the make-over you are planning is to ride your Softail to a Big Dog dealer and trade it in.

A fatter rear tire and a raked out front end is definitely going to change the handling dynamics. But I suppose that's got to be half of the reason for wanting the mods. What fun would it be if you changed everything and it still felt and rode like a standard Softy?
