Crossbones Done..... for now... (Pics!)
Hey guys. Finally got my bones done, and back on the road. No more plastic cover for me! We're pretty pleased at how the battery cover turned out, but we made one big mistake. The wire was too thick and hard to bend. We had to really fight it to get it in shape, but turned out good we think. Next time we'll use thinner wire, and maybe a bit thicker leather... Here goes....
Got some pin striping done by Bob Iverson in Fountain Valley, CA. This guy was amazing. I came with a couple ideas and let him run with it. Here, just some detail on the fork.
Wanted a lil' something on the headlight...
Told him I wanted a pin striped grenade and here's what I got!
Here's some world war II Bomber art on the oil tank. Named my Bones "Betty" in honor of my Grandma Betty. They call her betty boop at her retirement community, and my Grand Father was a B-17 Bomber pilot, so it was only fitting to have Betty Boop riding a US bomb! He did such a great job, it looks like a sticker...
We decided to take that little peice of metal tag out of the "Ignition, Off, Acc." resess, and Bob painted it in with the red, and put and "I, O, A" in it's place. I thought it might look cool..
I put the 2" springs on to bring the seat down a tad. I ended up moving my ECU from the rear fender, so the leather fits right up against and creates tons of space. I wanted to even it out a bit. When we make full on production versions of the covers, it will have space for the ECU to remain on the rear fender.

Here's a shot of the other side of the leather peice. We had to really tweak on this one, due to the stiff wire, so we wrinkled the leather a bit. No bad for a proto type I guess.
She's in dire need of a detail, but here she is in all her glory!...

Hey White Guy, the bike is totally awesome. Love the art work and the leather seat pan turned out great. Do you know if the guys that did the seat pan are going to go into production and what they might charge? My X-bones is the olive pearl so I'm not sure what color leather would look good on mine. Again, that is one cool bike. You should be proud!

You have definitely raised the bar high for the rest of us The leather cover is amazing...the pinstriping is stunning, and the grenade and Betty Bop is awesome. Man, what else do you have in store for the XBones???? Wille G would be proud of what you have created.
