Question Do I buy a FXDL or FXSTB?

I have a 30" inseam so forward controls won't be comfortable. Can I get mid's for the Night Train or would it look stupid and I should stick with the Low Rider?

Have you actually sat on a Night Train? With its low seating position, the forwards are not such a stretch as you might think.

I was torn between the same two bikes. Either would be a fine choice, but I decided to get an NT (and not sorry that I did).

Just put on floor-boards. They will be more comfortable and don't require as much re-rigging I'd think.

Have you considered a Deluxe? However, 30" inseam should not give you a stretch problem with forward controls. Monk's right though, floorboards take up some of the slack.

To reiterate, you won't have a problem with on a Night Train with a 30" inseam. I happen to have both a 30" inseam and an '08 Night Train. I have no problem reaching the pegs, not to mention my knees are bent pretty good while riding. Actually, if extend my leg over the peg and allow it to rest on it, it will sit about 4 inches up from my heel.

Good luck with your decision and enjoy whatever you choose.

Like most of the posters in this thread, I too have a 30" inseam. I have no problem with my '07 Softail Standard. The Night Train shouldn't give you any problems.....Besides, who wants a Dyna anyway?

With a 30" inseam, you are going to want to stay with a Softail. Dynas have a notoriously tall feel to them. The forward controls shouldn't be too much of a stretch for you. Never buy a bike without trying it first. It's kind of like not buying a pair of pants or boots without trying them on first. You can also look at a crossbones. I'm 5'9", 220 lbs with a 30" inseam. I opted for a 95 Heritage and find it to be extremely comfortable, with the floorboards allowing me to change the position of my feet/legs, which is really great on longer rides. Keep in mind, floorboards do limit your lean angle more than forward controls.

You should sit on and maybe rent/demo both and buy which ever one fits the best.
