Default FP vs. PCIII

Besides the 90$ (FP=90<PCIII) difference anyone know of any performance differences? Ease of use?

FP = Fuel Pak

Thanks!

::edit:: Also where did you mount it? From what I understand it doesnt fit under the seat?

It depends on what you want to do. THe Fuel Pak works and many are happy with it so there is nothing to shoot down about it. It does what it is supposed to do.

The Power Commander IIIUSB also does what it is supposed to do. The PCIII is a bit more flexable and it can be adjusted by you are a Dyno tuner of your choice. You can either download a canned map as you would on fuel pak but you can also tweak it to fit your particular needs.

The PC111 is far more than a bit more flexible.
You can add or subtract fuel in well over 100 cells.
You can change ignition timing.
You can up the rev limiter.
It will also easily handle significant motor upgrades.
If none of the above is important to you then a DFO may be fine for you.

I ran the Fuel Pack for about 2 weeks and made the decision to replace it with the PCIII. It just did not seem to run that good and once I plugged in the PCIII, I confirmed that because of how much better it ran, and that is with a map downloaded from Fuel Moto. When I have it dyno tuned (something you cant do with the FP), it will be even better.

The Fuel Pack instructions have you installing it under the seat, this was very difficult and my seat never sat correctly on the frame after that. The PCIII is installed in front of the lower mud/splash guard and gets zip tied to the alarm module. It was a clean way to mount it and there was plenty of room for the connections to the ECM.

My opinion is that the PCIII is the way to go and offers a lot of tuning flexibility. There are many here that are totally satisfied with the FP though, it just depends on how precise you want your tuning to be.

The main difference is that the FuelPak doesn't not modify the fuel map for 1-36% throttle and less than 4500rpm. In that zone, the closed loop O2 sensors are in the circuit. The stock map is very lean, and if you add hi-flow air and pipes you will be running even leaner for 0-36% throttle. After that the O2 sensors are bypassed and the bike runs in open loop and the FP kicks in and adds fuel for >36% throttle. A lot of people to compensate for that shortcoming adds the XIEDs which work great in conjunction with the FP...but thats another $100. The XIEDs fool the O2 closed loop to a richer fuel ratio. The PCIII however, bypasses the O2 sensors and modifies your stock map from 0-100% throttle thus richening up mixture for the majority of where you run...ie. cruising. The PCIII is a PIA to install under the seat but is possible (see my post today about my install on the XBones).
