Fox Creek Leather Bags on Crossbones
Well I just finished my install of the Fox Creek Leather saddlebags (http://www.foxcreekleather.com/87.html) using the Easy Brackets hardware on the new Crossbones.
I wanted to do something little different than the standard X-Bones bags from the dealer, and since I have a jacket and chaps from FCL I thought I would give these a try. I really like the way they turned out, and they have a little more room than the standard HD bags. Not as much as the Road King (got spoiled by those), but overall a very nice addition.
The easy brackets are a nice piece of hardware as well, very well built. The only thing I think might be an issue is that when they are on the bike and locked, they still have a very small amount of play. I took a brief ride on some rougher back roads (before it started raining) and did not hear anything moving around so I'm not too worried about it now.
Here are a few specific part numbers in case anybody is researching:
Fox Creek Bags: Large Straight Saddlebags (No Yoke)
Easy Brackets: P/N ST-R2DB
HD detachable backrest mounting hardware: P/N 53932-03
Overall the project took maybe an hour or so, most of that time was spent trying to get the bags aligned exactly right (didn't have any help and I was too impatient to wait :-D) I really like the ability to dress the bike up for road trips, then strip it down for day to day cruising!
So here are a few pics of the brackets and mounting hardware, my *unique* bag leveling technique, and the finished pics.
