Default Viking saddlebags?

So I'm really leaning towards getting a set of bags from Viking. I like a few different styles that they offer but they have limited pictures on their site. For those of you that have them, how do you like them, and can you post some pictures? Thanks guys

I'm in the same boat. I really like the Leather Pros but can't afford them. I've looked at the Vikings and think they're great bags, but I just can't get past the mounting. I want quick release and can't find a good mount that doesn't look goofy.

i installed them on my brothers dyna they’re sturdy bags for the price but the mounting hardware leaves a lot to be desired plus you have to drill your own holes into the bags we payed his sissy bar over the back of his bags to get the correct spacing for holes

Do yourself a favor and save up for the Leather Pros. I looked at every bag under the sun and finally bought the new Version 2 from LPros. These bags are special. They mount up securely and will look great on your bike. They now have built in locks and are easily removeable. You’ve obviously already invested good money into your bike. Don’t waste your hard earned money on second rate bags if you really like the Leatherpros. You will be glad you waited.

Seems to me I see a new post complaining about Viking at least once a month. I'd check some of these threads out before buying anything from them.

Start here. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/off-topic/1252022-shady-viking-bags.html

This is what I plan on doing.

Realized as soon as I got my bike over the summer I couldn't take a set of headsets and iPad up to the flying club so I started looking at Viking bags.

In my case there were so many different models I couldn't make up my mind. So I bought a set of luggage bags from SAC to tide me over. Came with a big one and a small one.

They strap to the sissy bar mount and that can stay attached and I can pull them off in a couple of seconds by removing the sissy bar and luggage rack.

When I discovered how convenient that was I was sure at that point I would want saddle bags that I could take off quickly as well.

So I'm using the luggage and waiting until after the first of the year to order the LeatherPros. Getting to the end of the season up here anyway.

It's the right plan for me anyway.

Well I was originally planning to buy Leatherpros. Until I found out that they stole someone's design for the heat shieds that they provide/sell. I refuse to support any company that steals designs from other people. Total scumbags

We didn't "steal" anything. We used a modified version of Suede's design with his blessings as you can see from this post:

Garry, I want to thank you for incorporating my modification/invention that I created from my own mind and my own hands to your original bags I purchased 3 or so years ago so that I could make it usable/functional with my D&D Bobcat exhaust!
I know a person should not be so prideful but I can't help it, I really am overwhelmed by your decision to not only incorporate my modification of the heat shield at the bottom of the exhaust side bag but that you actually made a totally seperate bag (your new V2 Retro) as opposed to adding it as a modification, that is awesome!
I remember when I called you up and bought the bags and I mentioned my concerns about if the bags would work with my Bobcat and you were cautious and didn't know for sure but I wasn't daunted, I was bound and determined to make them work together cause surely I wasn't going to go without either!

I invented this modification along with my other invention, that being my license plate relocation mount, and of course, the two go hand in hand, I couldn't live with one without the other!

I remember our conversation last year when I was discussing my L/P relocation mount with you, when I just wanted to make sure you knew what I was up to and that I wanted to reproduce the L/P mount since it went hand in hand with my heat shield invention. I do still intend to produce the mounts since many people have asked me for them and I just want everyone to know, it will be my pleasure to make them for anyone who wants one but I have been working through a number of other things that life throws at one but still plan to make them, how ever few there are that want one. I even throw in a few pics here from the Suede secret lair in which I did create the heat shield and L/P mount of my jig and some parts for assembly; I will include these pics in the next post since I think I've used all spaces for the other pics.

I'm certainly no Jonas Salk, in fact, truth be told, I'm far more "Keinstein" then I am "Einstein" (little play on german language and my humor ) but as proud as anyone can be of something they've created I hope no one begrudges me this small amount of joy my creation brings me.
Can anyone deny me the pleasure and honor it would be if I run across someone with these new bags which incorporate my heat deflecting shield and I walk up to them and say "Hi, I'm A.K.A. Suede Blue Man, and I'm tickled to death you have Garry's bags and that's my contribution!

I wish you blessings and compounded success with your business and your bags!

Sincerely,

Suede Blue Man

If you think I just made this up, you can see the original post here:

Keep ridin'
