Default INFO on NEW Dunlops D407 200/55R/17

Sons 09 NT has a dunlop D407 200-55R-17 on the rear. We talked today and I told him I'd try to find some info on it for his bike.

I'am trying to help him learn some about it when its time replace.
So far I've found very little information on it....

Its listed in Dunlops web site, but no prices anywhere.

Wondering? Is it a radial? it says 55R on the tire. The stock front doesn't say anything about it being a Radial? If so Why is HD mixing tires??

Is this the same as the touring tire, its listed in the Dunlop web site under new D407 touring tires?.

Seems like the post I have read in here, other riders are getting anywhere between 5k-10k on them..

Who has them?, Price?, How many miles are U getting?.

it is a radial. they last about 10,000 miles. they have changed the tire to multi-tread. it is harder center and softer sides for the touring bikes. I am going to guess that the 407 on the new softail will be the same. Available from OEM dealers only.

this would be my oem tire http://www.americanmototire.com/cata...oducts_id=1479

tk353,
Thanks, I looked all over the net for info on that tire. I had the dunlop site, but the Americanmotor is new to me..

He has 3 other buddies that have newer FB's with the 200 rear tire, he heard that there's only 1 out 6 dealers within 90 miles that has that tire in stock at this time.

Wonder Y HD put a Radial on the rear and Bias on the front?, "at least we can't find anywhere the front says its a radial". I've always heard and read that Ur not supposed to mix them for safety reasons.

Anyway thanks.

Nothing wrong with a bias front and radial rear. You just never want to have a bias and radial on same through axle or drive axles.

Thumbs up

JMHO, but I used the 200/50/17 instead of the 200/55/17. The tire is just a little shorter and changes the overall gearing just enough to make ripping around in town in 3rd or 4th alot more fun and 6th is much more usefull at 60-65 mph instead of 70-75. And JMHO but I changed from DUNFLOP after the OEM tire wore out at 4800 miles and think that there are much better tires out there for much less $$. Your not paying for HD on the side of the tire!

cool because i am going to get the roadsmart tire in 200/50/17 and i was hoping it lowered the gear like the 210/50/17 metzler did but last as long as the dunlop. as you can see i have the front as metzler and also shorter than the stock and it feels like power steering now. just lean and it corners

I just purchased one yesterday from Team Latus Motors, the cost was $154.00 plus $1.50 for handling no shipping charge. I got 6500 miles on the tire that came on the 06 FXST. Here is there web site: http://www.latus-harley-davidson.com

The last place I'd buy it is at the dealer. I got my replacement from a shop that sells scooters for a lot less. I gave the girl the lowest price I could find and she matched it. Just Google the tire and check how much this tire changes price, depending on who sells it. Dunlop, back in May had a 40% off sale on their tires, at least in Canada. Scooped up a new front one for my new wheel. Once again the scooter shop saved me a bundle. Can't see that happening at a Harley dealer. It's more like bend over.

Tire prices vary day by day, I just ordered a set of lops 402 fr, and 401 rear. for my 07 Heritage last week, had them installed by local Indy, Mon of this week. Just checked the price again today and they have went up 10%..
Still better than dealers price, HD wanted 470 + tax which would have been around $505.
Dennis Kirk tire price last week was $212 for both to my door, and Indy charged $128 for him doing it all.
$25/per if I rolled the wheels in.
So for $340 ($212+$128) I didn't have to mess with anything.. and can put the other $165 in something else.
