Default Question about service records, kept at dealer?

My 2012 Heritage was purchased and then traded in for another bike at the dealership I bought it at. The salesman showed me on their computer system how the previous owner was on his 3 bike. Anyway, my question is, if my bike was serviced by a dealership does the VIN get recorded? I'm just wanting to know if its been in for the 1000 service. Is there anyway to tell?

Thanks....

they can tell you everything that has ever been done to that bike at a dealer. they use the vin for identification.

I was in the same position as you and knew the name of the dealership that the service was performed at but, they were being dicks about it stating such nonsense as protection of privacy etc... I was finally able to at least get them to verbally confirm that the service had been performed there. Jeeze! I of course already had all of the sellers info such as address, phone # etc... since I was buying a bike from them.

I just bought a 11-year-old bike from the dealer and they printed up 20 pages of service records on it. They cut out the top corner where the previous owner's name and address was but left everything else on there -- very helpful.

Proof that there are also helpful dealers out there. Often it's a rogue employee playing the tough guy if you meet resistance when asking a reasonable question such as service history.
