Default Foot feels clunk through highway peg

When I am driving at higher speeds (approx. 65+ mph) and I have my feet on the highway pegs I can feel an intermittent clunk on my foot from the peg which I assume is being transmitted from the frame. I don't hear any unusual noises from anywhere, just feel the clunk on my foot. If I have my feet on the footboards I don't feel anything. I have extremely limited mechanical skills and knowledge. Does anyone have an idea what might cause this or if it is something to worry about?

It is a 2000 Heritage with a brand new remanufactured TC88B engine. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Yeah, you are getting a completely different feel for the road with your Hiway pegs verses the floorboards. I have to say I have never noticed any consistent clunk when I use my pegs but i definitely get a different "feel" from the road.

I wouldn't worry about it if you don't hear it or feel it when your feet are off the pegs.

+1 with Bass. Also, if your pegs are mounted to an engine guard, just ensure the guards are bolted down nice and tight. That can be the only thing, if it not the road feel.

It is on both sides. To clarify. They aren't actually highway pegs. The engine guard is flat on top to be used as a footrest similar to the attached image.

When I put my foot on the engine guard I can feel that clunk sometimes

It's the compensator in the primary. I feel it when I close or open the throttle in a more - shall I say - brusque way.

You don't feel it when your feet are on the footboards because the rubber is attached in such a way as to insulate you from the vibrations and clunks.

So if it is indeed coming from the compensator, is it something I should worry about or just a minor annoyance that I need to get used to?

I wasn't aware of the "clunk" until I took the bike out, and remembering your question, put my foot on the guard. Don't realy think it's something to worry about.

the only thing that crosses my mine is if your steering head bolt is in need of adjustment. But you should be hearing a bit of a clunk going over bumps... Just a thought. I'd agree though that if there is no other signs, you should have no worries about any problem.
