Default how many miles do you get out of a v-twin?

I've had a few of my non-biker friends ask me how long a motorcycle engine can last for, and I can never answer for them. I grew up riding two-stoke dirtbikes and would change the top end once a season, and sell the bike after 3 years or so. What kind of milage have you guys gotten from your bikes? Is 100,000 miles uncommon?

I hear of people talk about 100K. I almost bought a RK with 68K and a guy said if I take good care of it, it'll last a pretty good while.

On a well maintained bike, 100k isn't unheard of, but for most fair weather Harley riders, 100k would take a lifetime to reach. I have 50k on my 05, had cams and head work done at 18k. Still runs as good as new as long as the maintenance items are kept up.

Plenty in here claim 100,000 miles. You're results may vary.

My 87 Hugger made it 110, 644 before it became financially ridiculous to try and fix it. It had been rebuilt a few times including to a 1200, I cried like a baby (so I'm a woman).

Got 75,000 on my 08 SG so far. Did a 103 and cams around 23,000. replaced a couple of IDS bearing in the rear wheel, one stator, and one transmission main shaft bearing. Overall minor issues and none that would consider "engine" problems.

I didn't know it was a contest

I sold all the parts (except the tins, they had fox's painted on them) and it's now living life as a Bobber that I didn't even recognize when the guy was done.

Hows a million sound?

http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/46024032.html

I"ve got 68,000 on my 05 and only thing I've done to it is Cam chain tensioners and replaced a weeping shift shaft seal.
