I have a 2009 Crossbones with the HFSM (Hands Free Signal Module) or what's called a proximity sensor and key fob. I want to swap out my rear fender to something custom and a Street Bob Sparto tail light I picked up. What kind of troubles am I going to run into? There's a circuit board in the existing tail light housing. I imagine I have to re-use that, huh? Once the circuit board is relocated can I just re-wire and plug in the Sparto with no issues or will the HFSM or computer have a s#it fit?
What about turn signals? Will the HFSM and computer have problems if I run aftermarket turn signals or even LED?
I have an '09 as well. I changed out the rear fender and put a Model A tail light and the Gem mini turn signals. I had the wirng done at a shop for about $80, and that circuit board you are referring to was removed. I have not had any issues in the last 2 yrs.
Yeah, the key fob thing. It's called HFSM (hands free security module). Thought I heard if you screw around with turn signals that the security system gets messed up but apparently not in your case.
