Default help with tail light selection and fitment

Putting a new fender on my crossbones and wanting a sparto LED tail light mounted on top that will be 'plug and play' with modern harley wiring - a couple of dumb questions:

do I need three wires comin out or two? I want it to be both brake light and running light
I havent unplugged existing wiring yet and removed fender - how hard will it be to connect up to the existing connections?

The stock tail light uses three wires run, brake, and ground that run to a connector plugged into circuit board behind the stock light along with the two turn signal connectors and the harness from the front of the bike.
So I'm not sure what your going to need to use or get to hook the new tail light in, especially as your going to be replacing the fender.
A lot is going to depend on what your new fender has for a mounting and if your going to be reusing the turn signals or different ones.
My first guess would be that your probably going to end up splicing/soldering the new tail light into a shortened version of the stock wire harness.
So make sure you have a service manual handy.
There are wiring diagrams in the back to help you find the right wires to use.

What fender are you going with? Does it come with struts, or is it strutless?

Im going with the shadetree fender, relocating turn signals to one of the fender strut bolt holes underneath the seat. I hope there is enough room under the shadetree frame mounted fender to run tail light wires without the risk of friction etc. Otherwise Ill just axle mount the tail light and plate

Cheers and thanks
