I think the dipstick problem has something to do with the psi in your tires. Better start there

 

Mine went dead and no new batteries would cure it. It almost looked like it had oil in the lcd screen. Total POS, glad I didn't pay directly for it as it came on the bike used. I prefer the old temp gauge dip sticks.

 

Mine does the wrong read thing also. Hope the temp guage is more accurate than the level because that is why it's still there. It always reads half full and the bike doesn't use any oil so I just pull and ck occasionally.
