Default 5 speed not going into gear need some help

My 5 speed sporty 883 seems to be stuck in neutral and will not engage into any gear clutch cable seems tight and when I try to push shifter down or up it seems to "click" into gear but the bike still roles freely any advice could really help me out

Your question didn't belong in the "New Members Area".
It's for introductions. So it was moved in one of the other forums.

I think a better description of the problem would help out. If it clicks into gear and you can still roll it, perhaps your belt sprocket is stripped on the output shaft?

You might have to take peek inside. Perhaps the horseshoe clip holding the shifter detent plate came off, so your shifter is not moving anything? Not an expert, but I had a 3rd gear shift issue a while back and that was a suspected possibility. You have tried with the engine running as well? I know that I've read that the clutch is designed to work better with engine running.

If your 1992 883 is a "standard" XLH model (like my 1991), your bike may have come with a chain as standard equipment. I think 1992 was the last year of factory chain drives.

Ok that's good to know. I bought the bike with a chain and it was hard tailed as well, I just figured the chain was after market because of the whole "old school" look a lot of guys are going for and I never asked when I purchased the bike thanks again for all your John
