Default Gas Tank Options

I have a 2014 48

I was able to fine 1 vid on an option for an EASY take replacement (883 Iron) I believe to be 3.3 gallon

Is this the best option? (swap ability, looks, capacity)

thanks so much

The 3.3 is what most guys with a 48 or 72 go with for more capacity. Some go with the 4.5 off the 1200 Custom.

If you go to our Instagram page, just in the last few days we've posted 1 pic of a 48 with a 3.3 gallon and 2 different 48's with 4.5 gallon tanks.

As far as looks, everyone's perspective is different, but I like the 3.3 gallon look better.

I bought a 3.3 tank off eBay that was from a Nightster. The 4.5 tank to me is ugly but to each their own. This video shows how easy it is to swap out.

Heres mine with a 3.3 gal tank off a nightster.
Easy swap and the stock mirror position works fine.

There are some big twin one piece design tanks that will mount on a sporty. As with most Harley parts, you have to find a year and model with the same mounting tabs.

My 883 has a Fatboy tank, but it may not be the look you want. It'll go farther on a tank of gas without stopping than my butt will...

It holds as much, maybe a bit more, than the Custom gas tank, but as you can see here, it's shorter.

Top view. I have a tach where the speedometer is on a Fatboy.

As stated any efi sportster tank will work. It all depends on what you like. I personally went with the 4.5. The main reason for me was because my backend was already wide because I set my bike up for 2up. So the bigger tank made for a better flow. Plus I wanted the extra gas. If I had a sleek solo seat I would go with 3.3. But that's just me, go with whatever makes you happy. The install was very easy.

I'm gonna look for a 3.3. Are there only certain years the swap is restricted to or can I pick up any? Thanks so much for sharing
