Taking 2 quarts is a lot, since total capacity is right around 3 quarts.

Glad you're riding! I know you gotta be having some fun!
Yeah, I don't understand why it was so low. Bike only has 4k on it so I doubt it's anything major. It runs fine to me and I don't see any leaks or spots on the ground.

It took two full quarts of HD SYN3 and it's now just below the full line. Wish I would have known about the halfway mark beforehand but oh well... now I know. And I did check it while the bike was on the jiffy stand.

Just got back from two WalMart stores and one of them only had 1 quart of Mobil 1 20w50 left and the other didn't even friggin' carry motorcycle oil!!
If you overfill your oil, the oil removal tool is probably in your kitchen.
This thing works great on Sportsters.

That's a great idea Guzzi. I'm sure we've got something like that sitting around somewhere in the kitchen or garage.

Just don't let your the lady of the house know what you used it for as she's basting the Thanksgiving turkey.

haha I actually found a huge plastic jello shot syringe in the tool box so looks like the baster is safe... at least for now...

Anyway, I drained the old HD3 out of the engine and primary/trans and switched to Mobil 1 20w50 V-Twin and wow what a difference. And luckily the local 24 hour AutoZone carries the K&N oil filter, too! The bike runs and shifts WAY smoother than before. No more rough and clunky-sounding shifts. The engine took 2.5 quarts exactly to get half way to the full line and I just dumped 28 oz. into the trans from the primary inspection hole and called it a day; didn't feel like dicking with the derby cover. I also poured some Seafoam into the gas tank and it cleared up the carb pretty good and now it runs a lot smoother and more responsive than before.
