Default Modifying the cowbell horn bracket to mount coil?

A lot of the coil relocation kits bolt in the exact same place that the bracket at the horn on my Seventy Two. Has anyone with the cowbell horn just taken the horn off the bracket and modified it to screw the coil on to it?

That's the way I did mine. I cut a flat piece off the coil bracket about 1" long and welded it to the stock horn bracket.

Stock horn bracket with DK Customs coil relo bracket. Key relocation is now below battery box. Oil pressure gauge and speedo bolted to coil

bracket.

I used the stock coil bracket from a 72 with a tab welded onto it to
mount the coil lower. I dont like the plugwires stretched when
the coil is mounted higher, so mounting it a bit lower puts no
stress on the wires at all. Here's an old picture.

hope this helps,

T.
