Default 2001 1200XLC blow back from carb

There seems to be oil coming out from the carb & into the cover for the air filter & it gets blown onto the oil tank from going down the road. Any one else have this problem & is there a fix?

Yes, there are post's all over this forum about this problem and how to fix it. Contrary to popular thinking, oil level has little or nothing to do with it. The best fix is to cut a piece of lawn mower type foam rubber air cleaner to fit snugly between the bottom of the air cleaner and the air cleaner cover (about four inches by two inches by 1/2 inch). Run your finger along the edge of the foam once in a while. When you begin to see oil (usually after several hundred miles of riding) clean and reinstall.
I have tried different air cleaners, filters, hose, crankcase breather bolt systems and although it was fun and interesting too experiment I ended up going back to the above simple method after discovering my bike runs better, especially in colder weather.

Hey that's great Thanks. I'll definitely try the piece of foam rubber on the bottom of the air cleaner. Appreciate the tip.

It may be that your oil level is okay, but over filling with oil just about guarantees that you will puke lots of oil through the breather. Think about it for a moment, if it's over filled what is the easiest route for it to escape. There is a reason why all of the dip sticks show a max/full mark and manufacturers stress the point of not to overfill. Keep in mind what is the purpose and function for the breather. Like misput posted, there are many posts in regards to this issue. Do a search and see for your self.

THANKS. I'm definitely gonna do more research Inferno. Although I've reduced the level in the oil tank considerably & she still "Burps" oil?

SLV made an interesting post (#3) on the attached thread. It makes sense to me. You may want to check what brand/type of filter you have on it now and see what's the rated micron rate.

It's the K&N oval type filter not sure about the micron rating? But that's a good point.
