Default Replacing tail light on 2016 1200 Custom

Well...some nimrod bumped the back of my brand new Sportster and broke the red lens on my tail light. The new tail lights on the 1200 Customs are different than before, in that you can't just unscrew the outer red lens and replace it. It appears to be part of the whole LED module that fits into the chrome base, which is then bolted to the fender. The part I'm not sure of, if anyone actually knows, is, does the wiring terminate in a modular type plug inside the light at the LED, or is it hard wired, which means I have to feed the whole length of wire through the channel under the fender and poke it through the hole in the frame so it comes out under the seat. If that's the case, isn't there some way of taking apart the modular plug, to make feeding the wire easier? Why Harley went to this new tail light is beyond me. If it were the old version, I could buy a new red lens and slap it on with 5 minutes...

You can study the details on line using one of the parts websites, like this one, which may help you better understand what you are letting yourself in for. Looks like all the fixings are inserted from the rear, under the fender.

You can push the pins out of the connector to make running the wires easier. I'm sure there are YouTube videos on this procedure.
Another option is to dyke and splice the wires.
Hope someone's insurance is paying for it. If so, let the dealer fix the light.

Yeah, I've found the videos. thanks. The guy already paid me for the parts and labor...just thought if I could do it myself, I'd save having to pay the shop the labor charge...if not, I'll let them do it...
