Default got tank and fenders, now need sportster

Picked up a used set of tins- 4.5 gal tank, front and rear fender. They are 2015 Black Magic color off a Superlow 1200T. Fuel pump, cap and wiring, rear fender and wiring plus tail loght.

Local dealer says the following -
Tank will fit a 2007 and up
Front fender a 2011 and up
Rear fender a 2010 and up
They changed the wiring on 2014 models so surprised the rear fender would work on 2010 and up though maybe the wiring would not.

Suggestions for what sportsters to consider on craigslist? A used 883 will be cheaper then a 1200 and seems I have to get a least a 2011 model.

Would just be a local ride, no out of state riding. Maybe 16" tires for smoother ride

Just look for something you like. Kind of different to buy tank and tins before actually having a bike. I have a touring bike and an 883. While the power difference between the two bikes is extremely noticeable I still feel my 883 has plenty of power for me. Especially for just around town

Probably more like dumb really, though kind of you to word it that way really like the color though.

Have several other bikes, including a 2005 softail.
May settle on a custom, 16" cast wheels, mid controls. Chance it could be a 883 due to lower cost. Do though like spoke wheels but want what ever would give best suspension/ride. I read that is not a strong point on sportsters and the low/super lows have even less cornering clearance. Though I am the last person on earth that rides sporty or fast enough to worry about that

Bummer, rode a used 2014 xl1200c. Great set up with sole seat, small leather type bags, trunk quick remove type. Even had a stock smally rear led brake light (sort of cool looking). Only a five sped but had enough power. Very short ride and was not sure what to expect though it just did not seem to do anything to move me (my soul). You know how it is when a bike just connects with you, this did not.

Strange, will have to do some Harley demo rides again and see if I feel different second time around. Seem to recall riding some recent year 1200 anniversary custom and I thought that was enjoyable from what I remember.

Don't know, maybe some days a ride just hits you a certain way plus I really spent little time on the bike. Had already been a long day and many hours of warm riding before I got there so that could have played into my perspective.

Anyway, a neat older lady owns it and puts some serious miles on her sportsters. She got a new r1200r bmw now, wanted to try something different, and certainly will put about 20,000 on that one in a year.

Interesting way of going about things! Frankly, for an easy life, buy a suitable '11 or later. That is not to say an earlier bike won't also work, but may need something or other, such as wiring, to be adapted. It's all down to how simple you want the swap-over to be, or if you feel able to tweak things to make them work.

Did the font fender and tank change out myself. Scratched the underside of the right side of the tank, stupid me no towel, though otherwise wasn't too hard to do. Had dealer do rear fender, that was expensive since they had to do some wiring, add a modulator so rear turn signals stay on plus flash to turn. Then added a back off led light that just lights plus lights more when breaking. Then they had to sort out wiring since it all did not work together. I would not have had a clue how to resolve that issue.
