Default 883 to 1250 startup issue

Whats going on everyone....so i recently had the 1250 NRHS kit installed, currently at stage2. Ive noticed a delay when i start up the bike and from what i been reading on the forums i see that its a common issue. My question is it in fact me just upgrading the battery and/or high torque starter? My mechanic said the delay is normal due to the compression but i got a lil worried as this past Saturday i pulled into a store wasnt there for more than 10min and started my bike up again and it didn't start, i waited about 3min to try again and it fired up..thoughts? Thanks!

Describe "delay" further...what do you mean? I've got a pretty intense street 1250 build and it starts after a few cranks... After a hot start I can bind up the starter, but I know that and just bump it, then really crank it after the compression has bled off. I'm running 10.5:1 heads with Andrews N4 cams on a CV40 carb.

I have '15 Iron...and it used to fire up right away before the kit. Now it cranks with a lil pause and digital odometer goes blank for a quick second then it fires up...but like i mentioned before...on Saturday...there was that instance where it didnt fire up and i waited a minute or two then tried it and it started.

Well, without a serious pattern, I'd say that with higher compression that it's just doing its thing. Unless you run in to major starting issues, I would expect a heavy start on a built motor.

Most recent dyno was 86.1hp/83.5tq as flat as can be torque curve, but it had no RPM hookup, so it was based on gearing. A little inaccurate. It was free though, so I can't complain. I base it far more on the fact that I do 500-1000 mile weekends loaded 2up in the heat, and it just keeps on chugging.

What are the numbers on the Dyno Sheet. Does it have a Stage One Tune? What are these impressive numbers.

You've given your starter circuit a lot to think about, when you press that button! It's worth checking that circuit connectors, including both ends of your battery cables, are clean and tight, to ensure minimum resistance in the supply of power to the starter.

Sounds like your initial ignition advance is too high. You need to map it with 1200 ignition mapping

You MUST do this or you can destroy your pistons and cylinders very quickly.

Please call NRHS

Yeah you can't use an 883 timing map on a 1250 engine.
