Default Converting back to mid control

So here I am. Probably the only person that would rather have mid controls instead of forward controls. I own a 2004 Harley Sportster XL1200C. I'm looking for a kit to convert the bike back to mid controls but every kit that I'm seeing is up to 2003 applications. Does anyone know of a place that sells a kit for mid-controls on my 2004? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You just need the mid control parts, the brackets, shift lever, brake lever and shorter brake rod, if I'm not forgetting any parts. I'm collecting the parts for the same year/model to go to mids myself. I'm leaving the forward mount and pegs for stretching out on the highway. Now I can't remember which peg bracket I haven't found yet, may have to pay for a new one - I got the other parts used, way cheaper. I could get a cheap chinese bracket off ebay, but I've heard of those breaking; I'm sticking with Harley peg brackets. To me, the bike has much better balance and handling with mids, have done the mid conversion before.

First thing I did when I bought mine was convert it back to mids. Just did not dig the forwards that came on it. However, I did put a set of DK adjustable highway pegs on recently so that I could stretch occasionally. Only time will tell if they prove to have real value.

Welcome from NC.

I forget the kit #, but I had it for my '11 Custom. You could ask your dealer, as it's the same parts as for an '04 Roadster.

Here is the link to the parts list for the '04 Roadster that RKZen mentioned...

I love my mids for comfort and control, but I do also have highway pegs where the forwards go to stretch out on longer rides. I find I hardly use the highway pegs.

Ebay is your friend. Someone somewhere did the opposite of you, and the MoCo parts are sitting on a shelf. You do not want a "kit" or any other after market POS. What you want to do is very available using factory parts. Never use aftermarket if the factory has what you need.

Thumbs up

i don't want forwards on my sporty. you are not alone.

i've gotten used to forwards on my dyna and actually have the full mid set if i want to do mids on it... but, i like the forwards on it for some reason. i even have mid pedals on it that i use on the highway. may sound crazy but try doing 1000 mile in a day with your feet/legs stretched out like that, you'll be screaming for mid-mounted footrests to rest your legs on

like others have said, ebay. there are plenty of salvage type sellers slinging take-offs from wrecked bikes.
