I'm sure you can get a chromed oil tank cover that wraps around the original oil tank.

I just had to remove the oil tank from my 2000 sportster. I wouldn't think that it would be a whole lot different for the '93 versus the '00. The oil tank has 3 or 4 studs that stick out the back of the tank and can be gotten at once you remove the battery. I wasn't completely removing the oil tank so I didn't drain it, but you should.
Drain oil, Remove the seat, remove battery cover, remove battery, remove nuts from the studs, pullthe tank out anddisconnect the lines.Now reverse the order to install new tank and refill with oil.
