Sportster sputters after fuel light goes on.
My new 2008 XL 1200 Custom still has well over a gallon of fuel when the fuel light goes on, but the bike will tend to die when I give it throttle, especially in first gear. I had the same problem with my 2007 Nightster! I am forced to re-fuel even though I have plenty of fuel left. Any ideas?

RE: Sportster sputters after fuel light goes on.
I can only say I don't have that issue. Only issue I have is when the low fuel warning comes on I pull into the station and put 1.6 gallons into a 3.3 gallon tank on the XL1200N. Like the boy who cried wolf I will soon learn to ignore it and I will look pretty silly pushing the bike in my snowmobile suit.

When the fuel light goes on I know I have over a gallon of fuel; I re-set the odometer for another forty miles and would like to avoid stopping to re-fuel unnecessarily. Let me know if you have the sputtering problem if you go a little beyond the fuel light coming on....
