Default 2007-8 XL1200N winter mods

Hated the stock headlite, didn't like having the turn sigs on the bars, wanted fwd controls, and wanted to eliminate some gray, so here's where I'm at. I started out with a list of what I didn't like about my bike which was the above, and really all I have left that I'd like to change are the pipes. Drilled out the plug in the stockpipes and I like the soundasthey are, and for stock pipes, I like how they look. I like Shortshots but they are everywhere, so I'm gonna think on it a bit longer. Main reason at this point for me to change pipes is to get some ground clearence.Might get a detachable rack cause we're going on a long trip in June, and I need to throw on a small bag. Bought the signal relocation kit from HD, but the one side cracked as I was installing it, plus they stuck out to far, so made my own outa a couple of pieces of alumn. Got the headlite from American classic off EBay. It was chrome, really pretty, so I painted the body gloss blk and shot 5 coats of clear over it. The fwd controls came off EBay, looked exactly like the ones put out by the motor co. Grips, motor co., I put onthe SE stage 1 (air cleaner), and had my stealer do the download. Ran great last fall, can't wait for some warm weather.

Thanks.

Hi Heat BBQ grilleflat black, the headlites new, the body was chrome steel with a alumn. theaded insert that the outer ring threads onto. I wanted to powder coat it instead painting but I was thinking that the adhesive they use to secure that alumn. piece in there would let go in the oven, and the parts stores where I live sometimes are still stuck in the 60's, I wasn't sure if I would be able to get a glue that would put it back together. Turned out nice. I was surprised to find all the rock chips in the base of the tank, plus I got one in the LH side cover. Least I don't need to worry about putting the first ding in the paint now.

Sorry, it's like a Milwaukee Twins 5 3/4" lite, $46.95 vs $138.99 from J&P. I cut the stock wiring, pulled it out of the stock lamp, then reused it in the new lamp and soldered the wires back together.
