Rush slip-ons better than SE's?
A service guy at the dealer that sold me my bike said that Rush slip-ons, with 2" baffles, are better sounding than SE's at least when it comes to sportsters. I know you can always put different baffles in them and what not so the baffle size really doesn't matter. But he was saying that with the SE's the sound won't change as much as with the Rush's. They are being sold there for 300 for the pair of the slash-cuts. I went in to price out Screamin' Eagles and he recommended the Rush pipes instead. Other question is will the Rush slip-ons count toward a Stage 1 upgrade?
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

I've heard that the new SE's are "street legal" and comply with EPA regs, so they don't sound or flow as well as the old SE II's.
I've heard a Dyna with the new SE's on it and it sounded a little better than stock pipes, but I would probably go with something else myself.
As for the Rush slip-on's... can't say. I have no experience with them.
As long as they are a performance muffler and flow decently then yes, they would count as part of a stage I upgrade.

Rush mufflers are free-flow types, so yes, they would "count as part of a stage I upgrade". The new SE's are NOT the same as the SE II's that are no longer available and will not provide the sound or "count as part of a stage I upgrade". I believe the BEST sound among the pipes mentioned would come from the SE II's with Big City Thunder Monster Baffles.

Here is the sporty I had with RUSH 2.0 inch, they are 1000 times better than the SE. Buy them from FuelMoto, get them about 70 bucks cheaper than your stealer and they are easy to put on.

When I decided it was time for the Stage 1 upgrade on my 883, the dealer wasn't selling Screamin Eagle. They were using Rush, and I picked the 2". My wife's 1200 has the Screamin' Eagle pipes and I thought they were nice and loud. That is, until I brought the 883 home. My wife loves loud pipes and she will tell you that my 883 sounds great. Not obnoxious, but nice and loud.

I traded screamin eagle II's for Rush slip ons when I did stage 1 upgrade..the sound is deeper, more throaty (if thats a word)?
If I did more research at the time.. I would have gotten Vance & Hines but I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE RUSH slip-ons! a good choice at a decent price.

i put rush slipons 2.25 on and the sound and the performance is amazing. just putting the pipes on without the air cleaner etc. would be considered part of a stage one upgrade. got the pipes new on ebay for a great price. paid about 200 for them. can't go wrong with them. i love em.
