Default Rocker Box Torque Specification ?

I just replaced the rocker box gaskets on my 1200C and I was wondering if anyone knew the torque specifications for the allen heads.
Thanks

I have the same to do shortly. Did you have any snags with the rocker arms or pushrod tubes?

mines a 2007 the UPPER rocker covers at 128-160 IN-LBS (Mind you thats INCH pounds)
I'm NOT a 100% sure, but I just put black upper rocker covers on mine and I recall those numbers.

Hey dude chill out. I am not sure who you are smarting off too but if it was me then here is an answer for you. I probably don't know all you know about a Harleys but I am almost possitive I do know quite a few things you don't know. I have purchased a factory manual AND a Hanes manual for my Sporty because that is the first thing I always do when I buy a bike. By the way I been doing just that for over 45 years. Problem is neither of those books give me a clear idea of just what happens with the pushrods and rockers in the top end assembly. Therefore I ask before I tear it all apart instead of after. Seems to me like a good idea and also the purpose of this forum. If that is a problem for you get over it.

I wasn't talking to you, sorry for the confusion. You're question is a perfectly reasonable question. The original question was not though... it was a look it up in the book question.

My book (99) says:
Rocker cover
5/16 in bolts 15-18 ft-lbs
20-24 Nm

1/4 in bolts 10-13 ft-lbs
14-18 Nm

I doubt if they have changed. Not that great an issue on the top covers since there is no stress or oil pressue. Just tighten them gradually in a cross pattern.

Wingmaam - no worries on the top two gaskets. I did all three a few years back (on a '95) and I don't remember having any issues. Need to put it TDC for the last one to take the load off the rockers.

My .02, Don't get stock gaskets, get better quality aftermarket ones. Janes comes to mind. The second time (used stockers the first time and they didn't last long) I used a very thin coat of silicone (Stealer said not to) and don't overtighten (splits the gasket). It goes without saying the surfaces need to be clean and flat. Mine didn't leak again, sold it with over 25K mi on it.
