Default How do I know when my fuel is low?

My bike has a low fuel indicator but I've never ridden it to that point so I was wondering where the indicator would show. I need to get a manual for my bike, don't have one. The easy way is to just let it run down to that point so I'll see it but I'm posting this to see if anyone has already been there.

Never been there because I don't have a low fuel light. I know that 100 miles the tank has about 1/2 gallon left. Farthest I've gone before filling was 115 miles, didn't have to switch to reserve. I can't see going much farther than 130 without planning on pushing. I have a 2.25 gal peanut tank.

If you've got a reserve switch on your bike, run it down and see if the light comes on while on regular setting. If you have to switch to reserve before it comes on, you've got a problem, or not.......

Well, thats one way! I've seen my low fuel light once. It was at about 127m. Around town I get gas after around 115m and will put about 2.5g in when I do. Out on the highway I'll get gas about every 100m just to be safe.

i hit the light at about 55 miles... which is about 2 or 2.5 gallons for me-
still have a half a tank left.
fuel gauge is worthless imo
i just set the trip meter and i know that i gotta get gas before 100 miles. hey, i dont even have a reserve tank, but i think i would prefer one to this worthless gas gauge.
my bike has v&h/ arlen ness sucker and a fuel management system... set to not worry about fuel economy- its set at "rocket"!!

For your bike you should have a little over a gallon left when the light comes on. It does vary wildy, but It should come on before she starts to sputter. Mine usually comes on at around 100 miles. Never ridden much further than about 120 or something. Most of my riding is done in town.

So my light comes on, I go fill it up, and I rarely add even three gallons. Meaning it had like 1 and 1/2 gallons left.

There's a little yellow lighton the speedo that looks like a gas pumps. It's bright. You'll know it when you see it.

From my experience, the low fuel light is too erratic to be relied upon...figure out the maximum miles you should get on a full tank and ,depending on what part of the country you are riding in,plan your next fill up accordingly....I put 4.3 gallons in my 4.7 gallon tank today...about 40 miles after the fuel light came on...I have actually had the light come on..take a rest stop and the light wouldnt come back on for 30-40 miles....the stock gauge isnt much better...JMPO...:>)

I ride mine to 75-100 miles, and then pull the gas cap and take a look. Usually while stopped on the side of the road pissing and smoking a cigarette.
