Default Heaviest youve gone

hey guys, i searched and found on another thread that the weight limit on a sporty is 400 lbs. has neone gone heavier? I ask because i plan on riding 2up with my wife next weekend. Im 245 and she is 185. its only like 30 lbs over but just want to make sure that it wont cause any major issues and any tips or pointers are welcome(btw for all you funny guys losing weight is not a tip, its in the works just wanna go riding before that mission is accomplished). thanks

In a word, yes.

But, you will need to carefully consider where the weight is to keep the CG in the right place.

Also, you'll need to consider suspension as the stock springs on Harleys suck ****.

Tire pressure and headlight aiming will also need to be adjusted.

Yes. Im 260 and drove my ex girlfriend often... I never knew here weight, but I guess somewhere between 160 and 180. The ride was not good, but she never noticed... I grimmaced at every bump, not because it hurt, but because I was afraid I was hurting the bike. It bottoms out fairly easy, but I'm not afraid of short trips... Even done a couple 100 mile round trips. Just up the pressure for the rear tire, and put those shocks on the highest setting... I never adjusted the headlight.

I'm 265 and the better half is about 135... So we're pretty much right at that 400 pound mark (doubt it's much different than your 430)... She rides with me a couple times a month... No problems at all... The rear shocks and seat could use an upgrade for sure... But handling and power are no problem in my opinion...

this is good, actual input from actual experiences. i wondered about this too and found out about the 400lb max load. it seems like as long as it is not extremely over the prescribed max load, then it's no worries.

I beleive I've gone heavier. I'm 205 lbs and the gf is somewhere around 115-130 (i'm not good at guessing but she's thin but not gross thin) and we had maybe a 20 lb pack on there and add our dear and clothes I think that pushes the 400lb mark.
But I have upgraded the rear shocks because before the progressives I bottomed out all the time 2 upping. it was actually dangerous to turn.

I'm 250+ and my wife is about 200. She was never comfy on the stock seat, but we road a couple hundred mile a day on local runs. The bike itself didn't have any issues. I have a 2001 XLH with stock shocks.

*Edit I should have said was about 200... she's dropped weight since then.
