Every night on the way home from work someone in the other lane, usually with a cell phone stuck in their ear just cranks the wheel and comes into my lane. I can fart louder then that horn they give us. It should come with an airhorn!!!!!

 

felt the same way when i pressed the horn button. Sounded like a import car horn, Beep

 

Hmmmm...and I thought my horn on my 1200 was pretty loud compared to most bikes???

 

A few days ago I was cruising down the road on my 2005 1200C, and decided to try the horn. I hadn't used it since I got the bike.

I assume the horn is stock (yeah I know, never assume anything), but I was surprised how loud it was. Seemed to me to be almost as loud as a horn on a car.

I don't know, but it's plenty loud enough for me...

 

Maybe the 1200's are louder because my 883 is not.

 

I don't use the horn. Taking evasive action and honking a horn at the same time doesn't work.

 

From what I can gather, the "cowbell" side mounted horn on the 1200C's is quite a bit louder than the horns on the other models.

Apparently some models have a smaller "round" horn mounted in front between the forks.

Here is what someone else had said about the 1200C horn:

"one of the first things i did to my 05 1200c was relocate the horn to the same place the 883 goes. i made a l bracket and painted it black. it looks factory. i think the 1200 horn by the choak pull is louder than the 883 horn mounted between the frame rails? my stock 1200 horn is very loud. done deal"

 

Just goofing around tonight with the old lady, and noticed the horn blows!

Well, it ain't loud. I will be looking for a replacement soon.

 

The horn on my 883 sounds like Thomas The Tank Engine on a bad day (peep peep).I work for a city bus line and got an old horn off a junk bus and put it on .Had to mount it on the fork but when I honk people know I am there .Then added Cycle Shack slip ons just for added measure.

 

My horn's saved me a number of times from idiots that don't look when they change lanes. I've got a Custom though and have no idea if it's louder than the standard Sporty.
