Thought it was a starter kill for when the engine was in gear and no clutch applied. Prevents you from starting?? never actually tried to start in gear with no clutch so not sure.

Yea, apparently HD figured out that the newer riders these days don't have as much common sense as riders during the past 80 or so years, so HD is now protecting us from our own stupidity.
hi all , my 2007 started in gear with the clutch out , results === bent handle bars , broken turn signal lights broken mirror small dent in tank and minor scratches and scuffs
It's a "lets talk to the law department (Lawyers) about this and try to reduce our liability. Mostly because there are any number of people who will do something stupid like try to start the bike in gear without pulling in the clutch and then find a lawyer to file a lawsuit against HD alleging that the company should have known of the danger and is therefore liable for $$$. It's the American way unfortunately.

See - this is the reason - did you sue HD for your repairs?

Holy cow, were you standing beside your bike when you did this, or sitting on it?
