Default XL1200N New Pipes/ Air Cleaner & Painted Engine Case

Hey all! Just wanted to share what I got done with a buddy of mine (Drew-Tech) over the past month. Took alot of hours and plenty of ice cold beers but it was definitely worth it! Let me know what you think!

First we removed the crappy stock pipes and air cleaner assembly

Then we got to taping off the entire engine case, to include the lower gray fins on the jugs. If it was gray... it was gonna be blacked out!

After a few light coats of low gloss black (to give it the black satin look against the textured gray) this was the after. NO MORE GREY!!!

Then we sprayed the air cleaner backing plate black as well as the air cleaner and installed it along with my new pipes and a Power Commander V and this is the final result. I'm EXTREMELY pleased and could not be happier!!!

The sweet drags have a nice loud growl to them and sound pissed the f*^k off all the time!!!

Thanks for looking!!!

This winter I'm gonna relocate my ECM and start working on a spring seat. Also welding about another 2' onto my sissy bar. I'm old school through and through!!!

Looks great. Have you ridden 2-up with those pipes yet? Any heat issues? I really dig the backrest too.

LOVE those pipes!! The black's too light for me, but still looks really good.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! Of course, she's not done yet... but are they ever? Ha!

To answer a few questions:

My pipes are Paul Yaffe Super Trapp X-Pipes and I ride two up nearly every weekend. My girl LOVES riding and she doesn't complain about any heat issues. Great thing about these pipes too are that even when at a stand still ya don't get any exhaust in the face of either myself or my woman. Its thrown so far out the back and off to the side you don't even feel the heat from the exhaust fumes.

I'm super satisfied with my entire air cleaner/ pipe set up!!!

Looks much better. I will never understand why they called it the nightster, but made the engine gray and then made the Iron and had it all blacked out? Oh well you did it the way HD should have done it. The pipes look great, but how do they work for 2 up since that one pipe is so high.

looks real nice, I wish I painted my engine before I installed my sideshots. They were such a pain that I don't wanna remove them till I have to.

Where in NJ are you located? I'm in Morristown
