I'm in Houston. I've seen tons of people ride w/ apes. My bike isn't really legal and the tags have been expired for over a year. I had 3 cops behind me on the beltway a few weeks ago - 2 cars and 1 bike. They all waved as they passed me.

Burly 16" apes. As always more changes on the way. Removing the pipe shields and wrapping them in black. Ordered a custom seat from Redtail Leather. New A/C on the way and new, taller sissy bar.

My 2009 XL883L with Flanders "Low 883/XL1200 S" handlebars. Internally wired, stock risers.

Can be purchased here among many other places...

The jury is still out on these handlebars...I love the way they look but I have changed seats a few times and each time it changes the way the bar feels. The quality/craftsmanship is top notch.

I have the Burly 16" narrows - and would suggest you're worry over the length is misplaced. I'm 5'5" with 31" arms - no issues for me at all. Mine are not legal (my bars, not my arms) in Maryland either, but neither is a lot of my bike and I've never been stopped by cops - despite my license plate not being visible.

I see sport bikes pulled over all the time, but can't recall ever seeing a Harley/cruiser stopped.

2005 1200C. 16" Burley narrow glides on 1" risers and 1200L speedo mount. Free flow air cleaner with re-jet, 10" lowering shocks, BCT monster baffles in SEII pipes. Lots still to do
