3.3 gallon tank,,,2.1 ish to reserve light
4.5 gallon tank,,, 3.3 gallons to reserve light,,
Give er take,,
REMEMBER,,, If ya use the trip meter to Invade the reserve
don't forget the fuel pump occupies about .3 gallons of tank space.
So on the 4.5 It holds from dry only 4.2 gallons.
3.3,,,thats about 3.0 gallons.
stock 883's 55 mpg on the superslab
stock 1200's 49 mpg at 75 mph
conversions,,prolly less,,
cause the bike still has the 883 gearing,,,
883's turn about 4,200 rpms at 75 mph,,,
efi 1200's turn exactly 3,500 rpms at 75 mph.
I figger If yer feeding 1200 jugs at 4,200 rpms,,you'll get aboutish 40-42 mpg at 75

For the average 1200, if there is such a thing, figure 50ish mpg if you're running a steady 60-65 mph. If your running 80 on the slab, it's going to be closer to 40 mpg.
Also, being a converted 883, which likely still has the lower 883 gearing, the bike probably won't get get quite the mileage a stock 1200 would.

As stated, we really need to know the year of the sporty. It will/could let us determine the size of the tank and approximately range on the amount of fuel. On my '00 883/1200+ conversion with the 3.3 gallon tank, I'm not even switching to reserve until exactly 130 miles. That's with a mix of around town & highway miles, and always being heavy on the throttle.
