Default Fuelpak or X14ied

Im currently running an 08 nightster with a Joker air cleaner and V&H sideshots. Theres no doubt Im running real lean and need to richen things up. What are the opinions on my two options? Will I gain that much with the fuelpak or will the plugs do the trick.

I haven't heard from anyone running the XIEDS that they don't work. I have a fuel pak but only because I didn't hear of those before I bought it. But on the flip side the fuel pak took care of my decel popping. I'd say get the XIEDS you'll save like $100.

During the cold months i put on a set of V&H Straightshots, and a full flow air filter kit. I had e-mailed Stephen at nightrider about what he called a "hole" in the low RPM range which I discovered on my first ride with the mods I did. I installed the XiEd, and it went away. Noticeable increase in power, extended shift range, with just the pipes, and air cleaner, amazing what opening the breathing did to the bike. I'm watching the color of my plugs, so far so good.

I've just fitted X14iED's to my 48 to go with my exhaust and A/C upgrades and I can't praise them enough, smoother acceleration through the powerbands, no decel popping, and it feels like I have more usable power.

Been running the x14ied's on my sporty with free flowing air filter and cycle shack slip-ons for the last 10K miles.

No problems, and definitely made a significant improvement.

Cool Master Tune or Thundermax or Fuel pac or X14ieD,,,

The X14ieD's work BUT give you no adjustability,,If you seek that last
ounce of power where most of us don't ride you need more.
People who want perfection should find a GOOD dyno man first and
Buy the ECM controller he has the most experience with.

But then again If you go that far be preparied for the average $1,000
cost of a full stage one.

The X14ieD and Xied's alow you to safely run a HI flow air filter and LESS
restrictive Baffled pipes On stock engines Only.
If yer going for straight pipes (No Baffles) and or Internal performance
Mods like Cams,,Your going to a Hi-performance engine and need more
than the X14ieD or Xied,,
They do have adjustable models tho,,,,
Remember NON baffled pipes are all but Impossible to tune correctly for
engine safety and best performance. They should be reserved for modified engines and set up by professionals.

Read On::::::::

I'm no expert, I just could NOT justify all that money for an ECM and dyno time.
$1,000 for a proper stage one just for a single digit Increase in HP and TQ.
what 6 or 7 at best..No Thanks,
The X14ieD's I Installed really feels good. the Bike Is smoother at all RPM's
My MPG did NOT drop probably because I'm using less throttle due to the
apparent extra power which Is really just smoother power delivery.
The Biggest change on my 08 EFI 1200R was cold start ups.
Before the X14ieD I'd start It,,
get 1400 rpms,,,then 15 to 20 seconds later a single Miss,,
It would almost Kill the engine,,followed buy 30 to 45 seconds of a unsteady Idle
ranging from 1000 to 1400 RPM's.
A steady 1,000 rpm idle would be reached at about 1.5 minutes or even 2 minutes.
After the X14ieD, Imediatly after,,,WOW
Hit the starter,,,rock stable Idle at 1400 rpm's then 20 to 30 seconds later
(45 seconds on chilly mornings) I'd have me a Tach parked on 1,000 RPM's
The needle looked welded to the Tach Face.
That one nasty Miss was all Gone!
I never noticed a "Learning curve",,there may have been one but I was so
overwhelmed by my new smooth power delivery I still say my ECM figgerd
It had died and gone to Harley heavan XD

Default another view

i have open pipes and running very lean. besides the pipes turning blue, it runs poorly in 4th/5th around town. runs better {60 mpg on the highway [running behind a semi]}
i installed the x14ied and no difference around town.
i have tried some baffles and added backpressure, no difference around town.
i have some interior mufflers ordered that i will install in the pipes and will report on and benefits/detriments

the web page for the product suggests that you call with any questions or concerns. i strongly suggest you do call and ask before buying

Open pipes are very hard to tune and get right. I have open martin Bro's pipes on my XL50 with and open SE stage I AC and a PC III. The fueling is right with a Dyno tune, but there is still a slight lack of low end power and alot of popping, but I kinda like that sound so as long as the bike is running right i'm happy. Keep in mind the x14ied is not a tuner, it's a PCM tricker so if you are major lean there is no ticking the PCM to make up for it.

I'm in the same boat. Added short shots and quiet baffles and looking for an air cleaner and either a fuel pak or X14iED. Lean-ing towards the X14. Har Har har
