I had a mechanic come by and pick up my 1200 88 sportster for service he told me it was pre AMF I thought after 81 AMF was no longer being placed on Harleys?? so whats true or not true?
theres nothing AMF about my bike AMF was out of the picture in 81 so why would mine have anything to do with AMF? I know my 88 was the first year Harley introduced the 1200 EVO replacing the 1100 I called the Harley shop and they laughed they said the same thing so whats this POST mean???
AMF owned the major stake in H-D from 1969 to 1981 when they sold it back to some execs. Not sure what your bike would have to do with that as it is no where near AMF-era.
Generally the AMF era bikes are considered sub-par and had a bad reputation for quality.
