Default Painting The Nightster Motor.....Who's Done It??

Alright....We've decided that we aren't digging the grey motor on my girlfriends '08 Nightster. It's got stains that won't come off and we just think the full blacked out look is great!! Who has done it? Was it a pain in the a$$? What did you remove to do it......oh yeah....and LET'S SEE SOME PICS!!

Thanks!!

Gonna do it this winter. I agree, the gray is not for me, it is, after all, a NIGHTster. I am gonna have the primary cover and engine cover powder coated in wrinkle black, as well as the rocker boxes. The jugs will be painted.

I painted mine using Dupli-Color Engine paint. I just masked everything that I didn't want painted. The push rod tubes and bases were the worst part. It only took about 2 hrs to get it all done.

I am planning on painting as well. If I paint the jugs will that effect the cooling? I mean with a coat of paint on them wouldnt it take more to cool the engine?

If you listen to what the old school stockcar racing guys say, black sheds heat faster.
I have no solid numbers or anything to back that up, but I've heard it more than a time or two.

Took me at least 3-hours to mask it all off and only about 10-minutes to paint! Only took the plugs out and inspection cover off. Nothing else. I started with the HD wrinkle finish but did not like the sheen it left- almost a semi-gloss- so I hit it with the flat high heat stuff. I like it much better than the gray. It smelled pretty bad for about the first 200 miles or so. Go for it.

I painted the lower part of the jugs, the heads were already black, so I didnt touch them.
