Default Best all around exhaust for 2012 Nightster

what do you guys think the best all around exhaust for a Nightster is? I have a 2012 nightster with the Akrapovic exhaust on it. It's a great exhaust but I can't put forwards or rear footpegs on my bike. So I'm looking for a new exhaust and I'm looking for best performance and sound. Any suggestions. The Akrapovic exhaust retail's for $750+. for the right trade I'd be willing to trade for an exhaust and a set of forwards.

IMO the _best_ all around exhaust is what came stock on the bike. The sound won't get you in trouble with johnny law, nor the neighbors, and the performance is set from the factory to give you the best combination of fuel economy and performance possible. PLUS, you already own it.

Any change to the exhaust/air intake will require adjustments to the EFI system, which will cost you even more. You're looking at an exhaust that costs $750, and then will undoubtedly want to get the most performance out of it, so you'll be spending more money on XiEDs at a minimum, or about another $500 on a SEPST/download.

I'm saying all that having done it all myself, of course..........

I'm sure some folks won't agree with you, but it's your bike so do whatever you want or don't want with it.

I spent $240 on Bassani slip ons and am very happy with the results. My bike now sounds like a Harley should and my seat of the pants dyno feels more power. I will also be installing a new air intake ($140) and XIEDs ($99). So for under $500 I'll have what I want. Some of us don't mind spending money to customize our bike to how we want it.

One of the best all-around exhaust systems would be the Supertrapp Supermegs 2-1. It's tune-able with the disks and you can be as loud or quiet as you want with it. Granted, it sounds like a V8 musclecar over the typical H-D sound but to some that is a bonus. The only downside is I have changed my bike up with gaining lean angle in mind and if I wouldn't loose a bit of it I would have the Supermegs on my C.

Like the Screaming Eagle myself. No popping when letting off the throttle and not too loud for the neighbors.
